Made it to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida

Good heavens I am exhausted.  I saw a beautiful Pharaoh hound today and it was the coolest most beautiful dog I have ever seen.  If you have never seen a Pharaoh hound, you will probably be jealous once you see them. I gave the woman one of the "Walking to New Orleans" postcards and got to talk for a minute about that.  I got a minor accident, but I am hoping the hot bath and night's sleep will help.

Because of the minor accident, it slowed me down a lot and I was walking in the dark.  I could see through the dark a sign that said "Alligator Lake.  Caution."   That got me to stepping!

When I got to Stinky's Fish Camp I was greeted by the one and only Gene Mitchell and his lovely wife.  It was so great to have people there.

On the thresh hold of adventure

Hello everyone, Paul here.  We have had quite a few very cool days.  First of all, the farewell (for now) party in Atlanta was a great success. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us.  Extra special thanks to the lovely Canadian lass Megan Jane Stewart for organizing the event.

Today I was driven down to Panama City Beach, Florida by my traveling publicist Brisa Oldfather as well as her fiance Thomas Clayton Spoerner.  Thomas will be joining me on several of the days of the walk (who knows maybe all of them!)  We're being taken good care of at the home of Gene Mitchell who is a great songwriter and record label owner.  We went to the Margaritaville Cafe and while there I got to meet some of the Margaritaville employees who were very nice and gave us lots of hugs.  I did an interview with Channel 7 (NBC) which will be on TV soon. Then we did some dancing to the house band and I had some delicious conch fritters.  Although Margaritaville is not officially a sponsor of ours (Margaritaville Tequila is, however) they have been more like a "friend" of the walk.  They care about what is happening.  If anyone wonders why Mr. Buffett and his empire are so successful, it's because he picks smart and wonderful people to run the organization.

Tomorrow morning I will begin my 300 plus mile Walk to New Orleans.  I will get to the Cafe at 10:00 AM (Central Time).   I will begin walking when I am done talking to the newspapers.  I am a very determined person.  With God's will, I will get there!

Thank you to the following people who have been my team: Brisa Oldfather my publicist, her soon-to-be-husband (and classical pianist) Thomas, Megan Jane Stewart for promoting things in Atlanta, my Attorney and web designer C. Anthony Jones, and the designer of our logos Shahlayo Ranson.  Special thanks for Monte Tolar for coordinating so many ideas and all of the wonderful words of encouragement.  Mahalo.

Walking to New Orleans recent press!

I've been being interviewed like crazy, including a recent radio interview with Jim Hanzo of True Oldies 106.1 New Orleans!  As most of you know, I am normally the one doing the interviews!  Mr. Hanzo is going to be calling me EVERY MORNING on the Walk to New Orleans to update the people of my progress.

I also did an interview with Miles Hampton of Radio Margaritaville that you can check out on Saturday night.  It was great to do an interview on the station where I started in radio.  Mr. Hampton asked me some interesting Buffett-related questions regarding the Walk.

Miles Hampton of Radio Margaritaville will be presenting an interview with Paul Leslie on Saturday, January 23, 2010 during the 7PM to 1AM (ET) slot.
SIRIUS 31 / XM 55 / Dish Network Channel 6031

I haven't done the Dennis King interview yet, but I have been listening to Dennis King for like 8 years.  As far as I am concerned he is the "King" of them all.  That will be this Monday night.
Dennis King (DK the DJ) will be presenting an interview with Paul Leslie on the Island Time radio show on Monday, January 25, 2010 from 10PM to 1AM on WBWC the Sting 88.3.

Margaritaville Spirits signs on as our first sponsor!

Ladies and gentlemen, two weeks from today I will be walking the first day of my 330 mile walk to New Orleans.  A lot of exciting things are happening.  I will be going on the Regular Guys show this week.  I don't know why, but I have a feeling like the listeners of the Regular Guys are going to make all the difference in the world.

In other news, I am very excited to announce that Margaritaville Spirits, makers of fine Tequila and now Rum, is the first official corporate sponsor of our walk!  I urge you to responsibly enjoy these fine products, as much as I do!

Walking to New Orleans--Our Mission

Hello all of you beautiful ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, mums and dads--this is Paul Leslie writing to you.  If you've gotten to this point it's because you have some interest in New Orleans and/or Mardi Gras...right??   I write this in the first hour of the last day of 2009vg.  In one month, singer-songwriter Wesley Cook and I are going to be walking 300+ miles from Panama City Beach, Florida to New Orleans, Louisiana.

So we're a tad adventurous right?  Well, while we are at it we are going to try to help the people of the Lower Ninth Ward which was hit the hardest.  We're giving the money to an organization called the Make It Right Foundation.  You can donate to this very worthy cause by going to our website http://www.nolawalk.com/

Today I did a great interview with DJ Jeff Allen of the Amish Beach Party which airs on WLRA 88.1 FM in Illinois.  If you want to listen in it will be airing on Saturday.  For those in the Chicago area you can obviously listen on the radio--if not, you will be able to listen online!

Anyhow, I will try to write in this thing everyday.  So keep the faith baby!
